New iPad kindles warm glow

THE dust is still settling from Friday's release of the new Apple iPad, but many people are already talking about what's to come.

Sunshine Coast application designer Andrew Waters was impressed with the new iPad - the third generation of the tablet - but now without a numeral in its title.

But next he wants to see Apple further increase the quality of its camera and double the storage space.

Andrew has been one of the faithful who join long queues for every new generation of iPad and iPhone, except for last week.

The timing wasn't right for eager Andrew, but he still heaped praise on the new iPad.

"I'm absolutely disappointed I didn't get one," he said.

"I'm really impressed with what they've got, for sure.

"When people are waiting for Apple announcements I think sometimes they tend to believe it's going to have built-in hover board capabilities or something like that.

"But this has really kicked (the competition)."

Andrew said not much should be made of the slower trade for the newest iPad, which he said put Apple even further ahead of its tablet competition.

"I don't think you're going to get as many people dropping the iPad 2 to rush out and replace it," he said.

"But this upgrade, I believe, has definitely cemented Apple's place."

THE NEXT iPHONE

ANDREW'S predictions for the new iPhone:

It will be faster and stronger (with the new A5X chip) but still manage to keep a long battery life

 Siri will improve

A new (possibly USB) power connector

It will probably remain the same size as the iPhone 4
