New discounter aims to fill gap
Avinash Chandra and Aashika Patel prepare for the challenge.
IT'S the discount store that boutique chains love to hate.
The new Price Busters discount store at Casino opened last weekend. It is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the region - a boon for the price and quality-conscious.
It has something for everyone but craft enthusiasts, costume party-goers and pet-lovers in particular are in for a pleasant surprise.
Husband and wife team Avinash Chandra and Aashika Patel believe the Casino Price Busters - one of 17 family-run discount stores - fills a much-needed gap in the market.
Mrs Patel said: "What we are doing with Price Busters is taking it up a notch.
"We found there was something missing between the regular discount stores and the more up-market homeware chains. What we are trying to do with Price Busters is fill in that gap in the middle.
"We have got a lot of lower-end products but the quality is better. We are not doing direct imports full of container loads of products. We focus on local suppliers who can get better quality," said Mrs Patel.
Price Busters is also 'taking it up a notch' in terms of presentation.
"In our home and garden range, we are bringing higher-end products typically only seen in the boutique stores. Of course, we are selling our products at a much lower price.
We have water fountains, garden furniture and floral arrangements that you wouldn't expect at your average $2 shop.
Mr Chandra added: "We offer the core lines across many categories.
"Any essentials in electronics, for example, we sell at a third of the price of specilaist electronics stores."
If you are after quality household items at a great price, look out for the bright yellow of Price Busters.
The friendly local staff at the Casino store would love to hear from you regarding your needs.
