North Coast Academy of Sport begins search for hockey stars

THE North Coast Academy of Sport has confirmed that nominations are open for entry into its hockey program.

The program has been backed and endorsed by Hockey New South Wales and will tie in with the Hockey NSW Athlete Acceleration Program.

Athlete Acceleration provides support for athletes in a bid to help them advance to top-level competition.

The academy said the hockey program would provide an environment in which athletes could develop, access services and programs and would prepare athletes for the 2015 hockey season.

Athlete education and providing an education program for regional academy coaches, with the support of Hockey NSW RCC network, are also priorities.

As part of the program, the academy will offer on- and off-pitch support to athletes, access to education, fitness and nutrition, as well as specific on-field technical training.

The program will operate during the hockey off-season from October through to March and during the season proper scholarship holders will have reduced contact with the academy.

Interested athletes must be turning 16-18 years of age in 2015.

For queries contact the academy by calling 02 6620 3073, emailing info@ncas.org.au or by visiting the hockey nominations page on the North Coast Academy of Sport website.
