Natinoals coy on Page

THE National Party has all but decided on who will lead its battle to retake Page from sitting Labor MP Janelle Saffin after its local executive closed preselections, despite only one candidate having nominated for the race.

Page Nationals chairman Simon Kinny yesterday said it was still too early to describe Clunes businessman Kevin Hogan as the party’s candidate, but said it was unheard of for local party members to refuse to endorse a candidate.

Over the next few weeks, Mr Hogan will be meeting with rank and file members to give them a chance to get to know him ahead of the endorsement vote on November 28.
