National parks reopen after wet
THE Silver family from Casino and Tabulam made the most of a rare, dry and sunny day on the Northern Rivers yesterday with a picnic in Heritage Park to celebrate grand-daughter Mia MacDonald's fourth birthday.
While the Silvers' gatherings were often inside due to the weather, they agreed it was a perfect day to be out.
Tourism Support Officer at Lismore's Information Centre, Bonnie Martin said there had been plenty of enquiries about outdoor activities with many local National Parks open again.
Nightcap National Park
Minyon Drive and Nightcap Range Road open. Rummery Camping Area , Minyon Falls and Minyon Grass Day Use areas open but Minyon Loop Walk to the base of the falls remains closed. The Terania Creek section of the park including Protestors Falls Track is open.
Mebbin National Park
Public roads and Cutters Camp campground and the Byrrill Creek walking track open.
Richmond Range National Park
Cambridge Plateau Scenic Drive in Richmond Range National Park open
Border Ranges National Park
The Tweed Range Scenic Drive is open from the western (Wiangaree) end between Sheepstation Creek Camping Area and the Pinnacle Lookout.
Sheepstation Creek and Forest Tops camping areas are open to camping. Tracks from Sheepstation including the Palm Valley Walking Track and Brushbox Falls Lookout also open.
Rocky Creek Dam
Open. Top section of the boardwalk and pontoon will remain closed for a few more days due to slippery conditions. The lower boardwalk section will be open.
