National Men's Eldership Gathering
The gathering is held in a different state of Australia every two years and is open to men over 50.
It is the first time the event is being held in this region and
many attendees are coming from interstate and New Zealand.
The gathering is indicative of a growing re-emergence of the tradition of Men's Eldership circles, which are now springing up in almost every state of Australia.
This gathering is being organised by the Elders Circle of volunteer non-profit organisation Men's Wellbeing Inc, which runs a number of men's groups in Byron, Northern NSW and the Gold Coast.
The Patron of Men's Wellbeing is renowned family psychologist and author, Steve Biddulph.
Guest speakers at the gathering include former Gold Coast Mayor and Olympian Ron Clarke, OAM and Rev Dr Ian Mavor, OAM, discussing the powerful service and contribution to communities men can make in their older years.
There will be a number of discussion forums with topics such as defining the journey of Eldership and how it manifests in men's lives, learning to embody Eldership, Men's spirituality and wisdom, Elders mentoring youth, purpose and service, health and wellbeing.
