National honours well earnt

TWO Alstonville water polo players have been selected in Australian Under-16 teams following stand-out performances at the Australian championships earlier this month.

Bryce Woollett, of Ballina, earned selection after starring as a driver with the Alstonville Under-16 team that finished sixth in the championships in Brisbane.

Issy Malcolm, of Fernleigh, played with the Sunshine Coast after Alstonville decided not to send up a girls team.

Like Bryce, she was also selected as a driver.

Surprisingly, neither Nathan Diehm nor Blake Carter, who finished as top goal-scorers in the boys competition, were selected.

It has not yet been determined what the Australian teams' game schedules will be.
