Naomi's Pelican pic flies after tight Photo of the Day poll
THANKS to Naomi Pitkin for this sharing marvellous photo of a pelican at South Ballina Beach.
We've had some tight results selecting the Photo of the Day over the past week and a half, but yesterday's selection was the toughest yet.
Readers had 12 amazing photos to choose from, including some lovely landscapes and terrific shots of this week's super moon.
In the end, it came down to a dead heat between Naomi's pelican and an image from Wayne Day of a black cockatoo taking flight at Broadwater Beach - each with 27% of the vote. Naomi's picture was chosen after coming out in front after a short tie-breaker vote.
The Photo of the Day is intended to highlight the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of the region's photographers. As well as appearing here, it appears on Page 2 of The Star's print edition and is used as the cover photo on our Facebook page for the day. It also forms part of an expanding gallery of Photo of the Day images on our website (you can see the gallery below).
To submit an image for Photo of the Day, go to our Facebook page and hit 'share'.
For tomorrow's Photo of the Day we have eight images to choose from. It's going to be another tough choice.
