Murwillumbah man charged following serious assault
A MAN was arrested following an alleged serious assault on a 44-year-old at Murwillumbah.
The assault happened at Riverview Hotel at 11.30pm on Thursday March 24.
The victim was conveyed to hospital and subsequently required surgery to facial injuries.
Police made enquiries about the whereabouts of the alleged attacker and as a result a 21-year-old Murwillumbah man was arrested Saturday afternoon at Kyogle Rd, Uki.
The man was identified by police conducting RBT and he was placed under arrest.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with affray and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail by police to appear at Tweed Heads Bail Court on May 1.
The accused has subsequently been granted conditional bail to appear at Murwillumbah Local Court.
