Lismore has biggest beef cattle exhibition outside Sydney

SHOW IT, judge it, eat it....it's all about beef.

The North Coast National Beef Cattle Exhibition is the largest show in NSW outside Sydney Royal and, this year, the featured breed is the Murray Grey.

The exhibition is held over the three days of the North Coast National with a Youth Education Day held on Thursday from 9am.

"We will be talking to kids about how cattle are judged as well as showing them how they are paraded and prepared for shows," said Chief Steward Rodney Gibson.

At 5pm on Thursday there will be an auction of all steers by George & Fuhrmann and Ian Weir & Son and, at 6.30pm there will be a Junior Heifer show.

Stud Beef Cattle Judging is from 9am Friday and Mr Gibson said more than 350 cattle were expected to compete.

This year there will feature a Miniature Breed. Rural Youth Beef Cattle is held Saturday morning from 7.30am.

The Led Steer competition is held from 8.15am Saturday morning, followed by the Interbreed Classes at 10.30am and the Steer Auction at 1pm.

If you are a school don't forget to enter the Schools Led Steer Competition and the Queensland Country Life Schools Heifer Competition.

Mr Gibson said he was expecting this year's show to be even bigger and better with breeds represented including Hereford, Charolais, Brahman, Santa Gertrudis, Brangus, Droughtmaster, Braford, Angus, Limousin, Simmental, Gelbvieh, Red Poll and more.
