Murder charge for attack provoked by 'loud conversation'

A MAN has been charged with murder over the stabbing death of a man in Sydney's south-west, which is alleged to have stemmed from a noise complaint.

About 3:30pm on Sunday, a 24-year-old man who presented himself to Campsie Police Station was arrested and charged with murder.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear at Burwood Local Court today.

Emergency services were called to Garrong Road at Lakemba about 12:30am on Sunday and found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck.

Police said the victim was stabbed with a broken bottle outside his unit block in front of his father, who has a hearing impairment.
