Mr Percival's triumphant return to Woodford

DARREN Percival returned home to the Woodford Folk Festival last night after his breakout year.

The singer, who shot to national fame as runner up on The Voice, was the first act to play the main stage amphitheatre after last night's 2012 opening ceremony.

Looking sharp in a navy suit, Percival told the crowd his life had been "delicious ever since" The Voice.

Playing the festival with a full band for the first time in six years, Percival sang several of the covers from his time on the Channel 9 singing competition, including his audition song, as well as songs from his new Ray Charles tribute album.

The father of two said he couldn't think of "a better place" to wrap up his national tour.

His one-hour show was a family affair, with Percival bringing his young daughter Willow out on stage, along with a young festival goer named Zoe, to sing James Taylor's Shower the People.

The 40-year-old closed the show with an original song he wrote for his children, You Are The One I Love, playing a ukelele.

Woodford Folk Festival continues today with shows by Kate Miller-Heidke, Julia Stone, Hermitude, Katchafire, Dallas Frasca and Bobby Alu.
