Mr Gold Fire's flame flickers

PLANS to try and win a second Lismore Cup with Mr Gold Fire were shelved by trainer Jim Jarvis after the horse ran seventh in the Coffs Harbour Cup last month.

“I really wanted to win that special gold cup to go with the centenary cup we won with him,” Jarvis said.

“However the horse had lost interest in racing and was not putting in so it was time to retire him.

“He has a good paddock on our farm at Coffs Harbour and can spend the rest of his days admiring his sea view.”

Although he will not have a cup runner today Jarvis will still have three runners in other races including Hot Shot Rocket in the Lismore Workers Club Sky Gold Racing Big Maiden.

The trainer's hopes in that race soared on Tuesday when the horse's older half brother, Tuscany Lad, won a maiden at Taree.

“Every horse out of the mare, Demonic Girl, has now won a race except Hot Shot Rocket,” Jarvis said.

“Hopefully we can put that right today.”
