Motorcyclist injured at blackspot
THE notorious blackspot intersection on Sexton Hill almost claimed another life yesterday morning when a motorcycle rider collided with a semi-tipper.
The 28-year-old male motorcyclist yesterday afternoon remained in a stable condition in Tweed Hospital.
Tweed Police Sergeant Mark Garner said they had received conflicting reports of the incident.
“The motorbike rider was on Terranora Road waiting to turn left onto the Pacific Highway,” he said.
“He believes the lights facing him went green. He has proceeded through the intersection and was collected by the trailer of a Mack 16-tonne tipper truck.” Sgt Garner said the truck driver saw the motorcyclist turn in front of him and swerved to miss him.
“But the trailer has continued on, striking the rider. and causing severe injuries.”
