UPDATE, 11.15am: Lismore police Inspector Doug Conners said this morning's fatal crash at Numulgi was a timely reminder for people to be safe on the roads.
"Two (crashes) in two days ... unfortunately in this area we see way too many serious motor vehicle accidents and people's lives change forever," he said.
"It's devastating for everyone.
"Any significant road trauma should come with a safety message - people need to be mindful on our roads.
"Complacency sometimes creeps into it with motorists who are familiar with the road and sadly this (the Numulgi fatal crash) is just a tragic reminder of the need to always exercise caution."
Insp Conners said police were called to the scene on Duncan Rd about 9am.
He said forensic police would investigate the crash today.
"Preliminary indications would suggest that the motorcyclist has travelled on to the incorrect side of the road," Insp Conners said.
"As he has rounded the sweeping bend, he has travelled directly into the path of the oncoming vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries.
"The female driver of the other vehicle is obviously in a state of shock and she has been conveyed to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment for shock. At this stage it doesn't appear she has suffered any significant injuries."
THE 57-year-old male motorbike rider involved in a collision on Duncan Rd, Numulgi, is confirmed deceased.
Police said the man appeared to have crossed onto the wrong side of the road when he collided head-on with a car.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old woman, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital.
Duncan Rd has been closed in both directions.
A WESTPAC Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter road vehicle has been called to the scene of a motorbike and car collision on Duncan Rd, Numulgi.
The helicopter is on standby until the road team, a doctor and a paramedic, request further assistance.
Police and Ambulance are also present at the scene.

It is understood the crash is serious, although details of injuries are not yet available.
The crash is on Duncan Rd and the road is closed to traffic.
Emergency services took the call at 9.15am.
