Motor buffs share joy by fundraising
AFTER 30 years of car shows, the Summerland Sports and Classic Car Club still brings a shine to the eyes of patrons and raises money for charities alike.
In August, the Car Club, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Lismore West, had their annual show where they raised $2500 for Our Kids Charity.
The event saw over 300 cars on display with some proud collectors driving all the way from Inverell to show their prized cars.
More than 2500 spectators came along to get a glimpse of a diverse range of cars and motorcycles from as early as 1930.
Our Kids coordinator Rebekka Battista congratulated the Car Club on the success of the event that raised money for the Lismore Base Hospital charity.
"Funds raised for Our Kids go toward purchasing paediatric equipment for the children's ward and special care nursery at the Hospital," Mrs Battista said.
Summerland Sports and Classic Car Club treasurer George Jensen said the annual event was the biggest and best show the group had held in 30 years.
"The feedback from the car owners was very positive, saying it was one of the best shows they had been to and they enjoyed chatting with other car enthusiasts throughout the day," Mr Jensen said.
