Show on a shoestring (and what it will cost to cut loose)

MOST of the entertainment at the North Coast National is free, but if you really want to spend, there are plenty of options.

The traditional animal entertainment comes with the entry ticket, as are all the main arena spectacles such as the AllStars Precision Driving Team, burnouts, and fireworks to name a few.

Showbags range from $4 to $30, but for $12 you can pick up a five-in-one super showbag which should satisfy the most demanding child.

Rides start at $5, and the more extreme ones are $10 a pop.

Sideshow alley will guarantee a few laughs and you can get away with a $2 coin at some of the attraction, although others will set you back a tenner.

Food-wise, a "pig in a blanket" will only cost $1.50 at the Rotary stall, staffed by volunteers and raising money for cancer equipment at Lismore Base Hospital.

The Show on a shoestring for a family of four:

  • Family day pass: $40
  • A sausage and drink from the Rotary tent: $3.50 each ($14)
