More Thai bombings planned

POLICE in Thailand have been warned of bomb threats to important landmarks in Bangkok and surrounds, two months after explosions in tourist areas. A leaked police memo said an armed group was plotting bomb attacks at important landmarks in the Samut Prakan province next to Bangkok. The major target of was one of the region's main transport hubs, Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The other targets mentioned were Bhumibol Bridge (pictured) and the Ancient Siam open-air museum. The attacks were planned for October 20-25.
