More shocks rattle central Italy

TWO "apocalyptic” aftershocks hit central Italy yesterday, tumbling building rubble into the streets and panicking residents two months after a quake killed nearly 300 people. Two people were injured in the epicentre of Visso, but the Civil Protection Agency had no other immediate reports of injuries or deaths. The first quake was a magnitude 5.4 and the second was eight times stronger at 6.1, according to the US Geological Survey. "It was an unheard of violence. Many houses collapsed,” Ussita Mayor Marco Rinaldi told Sky TG24.
