More performers added to Bluesfest

ANOTHER 30 performers have been added to the line-up for this year's Bluesfest, including headliners, returning favourites from previous years and newcomers to the Northern Rivers' biggest music festival.

Topping the list for this year's East Coast Blues and Roots Festival is the legendary John Fogerty, performing hits by the eternally popular Creedence Clearwater Revival.

In a two-hour show featuring multimedia presentations, Fogerty will play all the Creedence hits for the first time since the band split 25 years ago.

Festival director Peter Noble said this year's event was shaping up to be the best he has put together.

"It's certainly one of the best Bluesfests I've ever booked," Mr Noble said.

"Following on from the big headline acts in earlier announcements, our fourth artist unveiling is full of more headline surprises."

One of those surprises is five-time Grammy Award musician and son of Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley.

Mr Noble said Marley will be featuring songs from his latest album Wild and Free as well as all the favourites from his three other solo albums and those of the Melody Makers.

Other artists joining the April 5-9 lineup include the queen of southern soul Candi Station, Canned Heat, South Africa's 'The Voice' Vusi Mahlasela, Richard Clapton, The Audreys and Backsliders.

Artists already announced include Cold Chisel, Crosby Stills & Nash, Roger Daltrey, The Pogues and The Specials.
