Monaghans enjoy wins at Casino

HUSBAND and wife owner/trainer combination Sarah and Andrew Monaghan dominated at the Casino greyhounds last Friday, with Andrew training a winning treble and Sarah owning two of the three winners.

Their winning spree started in the first event, when Debutant Ginger Brulee scored easily in a slick 22.96secs in a maiden 411m.

Ginger Brulee quickly asserted her authority, carving out quick sections before drawing away to score by nine lengths.

The second winner was the Steve Casey-owned Kanuna Miss.

Miss, after having her first look at the 620m distance, handled the awkward box five draw well.

She was prominent early and then surged away for a strong win in 35.77secs.

Half Track continued his strong recent form with a big win in the Fairymount Vet Clinic stake 411m to seal the treble.

Half Track began brilliantly from box eight and safely held off the game Firefly Curly to score in a quick 22.82 sec.

Grafton trainer Les Purnell also enjoyed success with a winning double.

The promising Sparkling Rock continued her good form with a sound victory in the Paul Wasson stake 620m.

Rock led most of the way and then held out Black Marlin.

Red Hot Prince was just that in the Madsen Meats stake 484m, surging to the lead when the boxes opened before holding on to beat the gallant Mighty Moltzen.

Meanwhile, trainer Darryl Armfield has high hopes for Macie Bell with it being the namesake of his young daughter Macie.

Macie Bell has a run tonight at Lismore in heat five of the Centrebet Cosmic Rumble Race worth $10,000 to the winner.

Macie Bell ran 30.67 seconds last week with Mystery Rumble three quarters of a length behind her.

Steve Kavanagh is also a local trainer with three runners in this race.
