Model tries jungle trek in unglamorous adventure TV series

THERE were no make-up artists or hairstylists in sight in catwalk model Kate Peck's new TV series.

The MTV presenter had no time for touch-ups in A Model Adventure, which sees the blonde beauty showing off her love for travel, nature and motorsport.

"People still are surprised when I roll up on my huge Harley Davidson (motorcycle)," she told The Guide.

"What I loved about doing the series was I could strip back all the material things that we exist with in inner Sydney. There was no make-up, no stylist, no red carpets or high heels, just me and whatever adventure it was I was taking on. It's a really raw experience and you definitely get to see many sides of me."

The four-part series was inspired by Peck's experience on the challenging Kokoda Track.

"I walked Kokoda with CanTeen (youth charity) to raise awareness and money," she said.

"I shot these little video diaries each day and night and I took them back home and Candid Films edited them. After that we wrote four adventure episodes and said, 'let's take it to Nat Geo and see what they say'."

Tuesday's upcoming episode sees Peck compete in a gruelling three-day triathlon through the Daintree rainforest in Far North Queensland.

Peck raced against her training partner Jesse along the route, which saw her carry all of her supplies while hiking, cycling, kayaking and running through the jungle.

"I trained three months to be prepared for it and even then nothing can prepare you for the North Queensland jungle between the humidity, leeches and crocs," she said.

This past week's episode saw Peck confront her fear of heights while canyoning in the Blue Mountains.

"It took three days to film and I don't think I slept the entire time... it was absolutely terrifying," she said.

"I want to inspire people and show them that everyday people like myself can get out there and these activities are very do-able."

A Model Adventure airs Tuesdays at 9.30pm on Nat Geo People.
