Mitchell Marsh rewarded for efforts with Test spot

WESTERN Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been rewarded for his strong performances in the recent ODI series in Zimbabwe with a place in the 15-man Test squad to play Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates next month.

Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe has also been given the nod by selectors and both could make their Test debuts on the tour which begins on October 22.

Phillip Hughes has also been included, while all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is in too, with pitches in the UAE expected to favour spin bowling.

There was no spot for George Bailey in the 15.

Bailey yesterday quit his role as T20 captain to focus on longer forms of the game and he has been replaced by Aaron Finch.

Uncapped players Sean Abbott, Cameron Boyce Kane Richardson are in the T20 squad for a one-off game against Pakistan, while Abbott also makes the ODI squad for the tour.
