Demons' Mitch Clark significantly improving

AS the AFL tanking investigation blowtorch remains firmly focused on Melbourne, the Demons at least received one piece of positive news this week.

The club's star forward Mitch Clark made a significant step in his recovery from foot surgery by running for the first time since June.

The former Brisbane Lion had been playing his 11th game for his new club when he suffered a Lisfranc tear in his right foot.

Demons elite performance manager Dave Misson said Clark had begun working on the AlterG treadmill, "which is where you can adjust the percentage of your body weight which you're running at".

"For Mitch at the moment, it's about controlling the load that's going through his foot, so this treadmill allows us to start him today (Monday) at 80 per cent of his body weight," Misson told melbournefc.com.au.

"We hope that by the time we break up by the end of December, he's been doing a lot of solid conditioning running outside."
