Milestone for 'man possessed'

REDS outside back Digby Ioane has been training like a man possessed according to coach Ewen McKenzie.

That's understandable when you have been suspended for five weeks after being charged with lifting an opponent.

He also happens to be on the verge of a milestone - his 50th Super Rugby match.

The break-dancing winger might play outside centre tonight against the Blues in Auckland as the below-par Reds look for more attacking options.

"Digby has been a man possessed at training during his suspension and is raring to go," McKenzie said.

"Everyone is excited to have him back. He couldn't have returned at a more timely moment with the Blues being such a crucial game."

The Queenslanders beat the Blues on both occasions during last year's championship-winning season.

Ioane said he had been counting down the days leading up to his return match and his 50-game milestone.

"It has been a long five weeks watching from the sideline and not playing," he said.

"I re-signed last year knowing Queensland was where I wanted to be, so it's a great moment for me to reach the milestone."

Centre Anthony Faingaa has recovered from a foot injury to earn a place on the bench.

Flyhalf Ben Lucas is likely to start in the jinxed No 10 jersey after coming off the bench against the Stormers last week.

Lucas played 76 minutes after Sam Lane suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 23-13 loss to the South Africans at Suncorp Stadium.

In the forwards, Adam Wallace-Harrison and Eddie Quirk will start off the bench for injured lock Van Humphries, while backrower Radike Samo has been dropped.
