Former Lismore cricketer selected for Queensland Bulls squad

FORMER Lismore cricketer Simon Milenko has been selected in the Queensland Bulls squad for their first one-day match in the Matador Cup one-day competition.

Milenko, 25, has been named in a squad of 13 to take on Victoria at the Gabba in Brisbane tomorrow.

One player will be omitted with a 12th man to be named in a squad boasting the likes of James Hopes, Ben Cutting and Usman Khawaja.

Milenko played in the Bulls Second X1 against Ireland yesterday with the visitors using the one-day match as preparation for the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia next year.

He is an all-rounder and had a breakout season playing for the Redlands club in 2013-14.

The Eureka and Easts junior scored 790 runs and took 40 wickets to win the Peter Burge Medal for best and fairest in the Brisbane Premier Grade competition.

Milenko (pictured) has previously represented at Futures League Second XI level with the Queensland Academy of Sport.

The Bulls will play NSW at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Monday.
