Naughty Korner: Milat story a step in the right direction
IF YOU were a foreign visitor flicking on the TV in Australia for the first time, you could be forgiven for thinking that this country is overflowing with awkward inner-city couples that spend the majority of their time conducting unsatisfactory renovations on their cramped, over-priced apartments.
The state of commercial television is a shameless insult on the intelligence of the average Australian. In this environment, any attempt at a real TV show is appreciated, especially if it deals with interesting subject matter.
The real-life story of Ivan Milat is one that should make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, so any dramatisation is sure to make you lose control of your bowels and have nightmares for several weeks.
While I'm sorry to say that Catching Milat didn't quite get a hold of me, I still commend the effort. It was better than watching another episode of Australia's Fattest Renovated Masterchef Popstar Revelation. Thanks for giving it a go Channel 7.
