Mick Thomas’s Zimbabwe adventure

IN March 2015, Australian singer-songwriter, producer and guitarist Mick Thomas and bandmate Squeezebox Wal took 14 fans across southern Africa.

Mick Thomas was the founding mainstay of a folk rock group, Weddings Parties Anything and leader of Mick Thomas and the Sure Thing.

Thomas and Wal performed from campfires on safari to music venues in Johannesburg.

Each night, Thomas and Wal offered a concert where fans were invited to request any song from the extensive back catalogue.

Another consequence of that experience is his bootleg album Welcome to Zimbabwe, featuring these live recordings.

As a result, fans dug deep into Mick's music and recorded hours of material.

To celebrate the release, Mick and Wal are touring the bootleg album live, revisiting the back catalogue of songs they reminisced during the Africa tour.
