Katter's Australian Party members elect son Rob as president

FIRST-TERM Queensland MP Rob Katter has been elected unopposed as president of the political party founded by his father.

The Member for Mount Isa was elected unanimously at a meeting of the Katter's Australian Party executive late last week.

He replaces interim president Max Menzel, who stood aside to allow someone to could take on the role permanently.

"I look forward to this important new role as we face one of the toughest battles ahead in our debut entrance into federal politics as a political organisation," the 36-year-old son of Bob Katter said.

"Mr Menzel's contribution to the party in his role as interim president has been very much appreciated by the board and party members for assisting the organisation in it's challenging early stages."
