McLaren duo top first practice
MCLAREN has made its Australian Grand Prix intentions known after securing a top two finish in today's first practice session.
British duo Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton raced to the top of the timesheets with Button (1:27.560) pipping his teammate by two-hundredths of a second.
Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher was third in his Mercedes, followed by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and home-town favourite Mark Webber.
Schumacher's teammate Nico Rosberg grabbed seventh, while young Australian Daniel Ricciardo showed some promising pace to finish eighth.
William's Pastor Maldonado, Lotus' Kimi Raikkonen and Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi rounded out the top 10.
Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel finished in eleventh position.
