McCain in contamination scare

FROZEN food giant McCain has recalled some of its 500g family cheese and bacon pizzas over concerns of metal contamination.

The recalled pizzas have the date code 090 and are marked “best before” March 2012.

The pizzas are sold locally at Coles, Bilo, Woolworths, and IGA supermarkets.

Around 2496 cartons (eight pizzas per carton) of product have been shipped to retailers.

McCain Foods Australia/New Zealand Marketing Director Nicki Anderson said this is a precautionary action undertaken by McCain Foods to ensure the safety of our customers.

Ms. Anderson said an investigation is underway to determine the source of the contamination.

Call the McCain Foods Consumer Service team on 1800 065 521 for details.
