Matthew Newton arrested again

MATTHEW Newton has done it again.

Miami police in the U.S. have confirmed the troubled actor has been arrested after allegedly punching a hotel receptionist in the face and resisting arrest last week.

Security footage released from the April 17 incident allegedly shows Newton involved in a verbal argument with the receptionist before he gets up and throws paper off the front desk.

A spokesman for the police department said that at some point Newton punched the receptionist.

He said Newton claimed the receptionist had "spat" in his face but there was no evidence of that on the CCTV footage.

Newton was arrested in his hotel room after the receptionist phoned police.

It was his second arrest in Miami this month.

He still has an assault matter before the courts in Australia.

On Tuesday (April 24) morning the star's lawyer Chris Murphy vented on social networking site Twitter.

"Can't cure mental illness with 'You stop that!'," he tweeted.

"Bipolar sufferers need patience & support. Matthew Newton has mine. Treatment continues."
