Masters swimmers add extra

ARE you looking for an extra social activity to include in your fitness regime?

Lismore Memorial Baths' Masters Swim program has expanded to include swimmers from the Goonellabah Swimming and Aquatic Centre (GSAC) Swimfit program.

The Baths' trainer/lifeguard Johann Morwitzer said the program "started as a social group of swim enthusiasts aged from around 20 to 50 years or so".

"They also did it to improve their swimming techniques and get fit," Mr Morwitzer said.

"Now we have GSAC members who are doing Swimfit.

"I train regularly because I find swimming very therapeutic and rhythmic; great for the entire body.

"We train under Denise Hawkins on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6am, also Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm. And we do ocean swimming, which is good.

"Denise offers learn-to-swim classes at GSAC and now Masters. It's competitive and a lot of fun; a great way to get fit and improve fitness."

Mr Morwitzer said it was not just about the swimming but also the social aspect.

Inquiries phone GSAC on 66255370 or the Lismore Memorial Baths on 66216166.
