SHAUN Marsh has blasted his way back onto the international stage, but his great mate and fellow big-hitter, Luke Pomersbach, has missed out.

Marsh was named in Australia's 12-man Twenty20 squad yesterday for the two matches against Sri Lanka to be played in Sydney on Saturday and Melbourne on Monday after a stunning BBL campaign for the Perth Scorchers.

He was the competition's leading run-scorer with 412 runs at 58.85, while his former Western Australia teammate and housemate Pomersbach finished second with 397 runs at 44.11on his way to helping the Heat beat the Scorchers in Saturday's BBL final at the WACA.

Despite winning the title the Heat has just one player in the squad, fast bowler Ben Cutting, who has also been added to the one-day squad for the final match against Sri Lanka in Hobart tomorrow.

Cutting, second highest wicket-taker with 13 in the BBL, and Marsh are two of the six players in the squad who weren't part of Australia's World T20 campaign in Sri Lanka three months ago.

The others are BBL player of the season Aaron Finch, Adam Voges, James Faulkner and Ben Laughlin, who topped the wicket-taking list in the BBL with 14 victims for the Hobart Hurricanes.

The squad represents a changing of the guard, with neither of the Hussey brothers, Mike or David retained, while other the members of the World T20 campaign missing are Dan Christian, Ben Hilfenhaus, Brad Hogg, Clint McKay and Cameron White.

"We've just picked the best squad that we can," chairman of selectors John Inverarity said at a press conference at the MCG.

"(Marsh's) form in the BBL has been absolutely compelling."

Inverarity said Pomersbach's past indiscretions with drinking and other off-field dramas hadn't counted against him, but he needed to play well over a long period.
