Marriage went from 50 Shades of Grey to slavery, court hears

IT WAS a seemingly perfect marriage that began with 50 Shades Of Grey-style sex games but allegedly spiralled out of control to the point where the husband has been charged and accused of subjecting his wife to horrifying sexual violence.

To the outside world, Jane* and John Smith* looked like a happily married couple who lived in a nondescript suburban home on Sydney's supposedly sleepy north shore with his two young children.

But, behind closed doors, it was a very different story, according to documents tendered to Parramatta Local Court.

Police claim the couple's "master/slave" dynamic allegedly saw the husband farm his wife out as a sex slave. Police have also accused him of forcing his spouse to wear a "slave dress", as well as hogtying her and subjecting her to other horrific sexual violence while his two young children were in the next room of their home.

He was refused bail by Magistrate John Crawford in Parramatta Bail Court the next day and was to appear in Central Local Court on Thursday facing seven charges, including keeping a person in sexual servitude, aggravated sexual assault and multiple counts of causing grievous bodily harm.
