Markets deliver a marvellous mix

THE new year has begun and so also has Casino's Farmers' and Artisans' Market each week and the general market each fortnight.

The first will be held tomorrow at the old bowling green in Richmond St between the pool and tennis courts.

"We hope this year to be able to increase the variety of goods on offer and as always at a competitive price," co-ordinator Gwen Hyde said.

"We generally arrive and have product displayed and available by 7am.

"This is to allow customers to attend before work or en route to or from delivering children to school."

Products and produce on offer include locally grown fruit and vegetables, small animals, poultry, garden supplies (including mulch, seedlings and manure tea), greeting cards, cooking, pickles, honey, sewing and other crafts.

Fortnightly at the general market they also have secondhand books, jewellery, and knick-knacks.

"We have a barbecue with a shaded socialising area where soft drink, sausage sandwiches, toasted sandwiches tea and coffee are available," Ms Hyde said. "We endeavour at all times to have or find any reasonable request for a product."
