Margaret is Ballina's Woman of the Year

MARGARET Paul has been announced by Ballina MP Don Page as the 2015 Ballina Electorate Woman of the Year.

"In 1975 Margaret attended the inaugural meeting of the Ballina Laurel Club which was formed to support the widows of Legacy and 40 years later she is still involved," Mr Page said.

"Margaret was the Vice-President for three years, President for two years, and then assumed the role of Secretary of the Ballina Laurel Club, a position she still holds today, 35 years later."

"Margaret says her involvement with the Laurel Club has given her many years of friendship and moral support, but I know that she, in turn, has provided that for other Legacy widows."

"Several months before joining the Laurel Club, Margaret had joined the Ballina Hospital Auxiliary and she is also celebrating 40 years as a member of that organisation."

"She is regarded as a 'quiet achiever' and is held in high regard in the community and her friendship, empathy and willingness to help others is well known in Ballina."

"On behalf of the Ballina Electorate I thank Margaret Paul for her service to our community, particularly to widows of veterans and ex-servicemen and the Ballina Hospital Auxiliary."

"The Ballina Electorate Woman of the Year award for 2015 is recognition of our appreciation for the time she has donated to helping others in our community."
