Mapleton flowers help say GDay USA

LOS Angeles, New York, Mapleton. These places have more in common than you'd think.

Mapleton business Australian Farm Forestry has had a team of people on the ground in America this past week, providing floral table arrangements for three gala dinners in the GDay USA program.

They supplied more than 300 different floral arrangements for the Australia Tourism Summit at the Beverly Hills Hotel and the black tie gala at the J.W. Marriott in LA. The team also flew to New York to repeat the process at another black-tie gala at Ciprianis in Wall Street, with Rupert Murdoch on the guest list.

The arrangements were specially designed using Australian native flowers and foliage sourced from the Sunshine Coast.

The star-spotting has been spectacular, with the team rubbing shoulders with Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts, Geoffrey Rush, Jacki Weaver, Paul Hogan and John Travolta.

AFF CEO Christopher Deane said a chance meeting with the right contact in Trade and Investment Queensland led to the incredible job.

"It was a tremendous honour to be asked to showcase our products at the black-tie galas and the excitement during the gala was quite amazing. The whole event was an unbelievable experience,'' he said.
