Manscapes 2 will support fellow males
NORTHERN Rivers photographer John Bortolin is preparing his second book of male nude photographs, Manscapes 2.
The new publication, due later this year, will follow a successful first book, both in sales and reviews.
Mr Bortolin said he changed the aim of the second book after the passing of one of his models, Rhys McNaughton, last year.
"I've been working for 10 months on my second book," Mr Bortolin said.
"Since the passing of Rhys McNaughton, I've changed the journey of Manascapes: Instead of just taking pretty images of naked guys, I thought I'd have them mean something more. Through my lens I'm helping these guys out with there self esteems.
Part of the profits from Manscapes 2 will go to the Movember Foundation, the photographer said.
"The males I shoot are non-professional and it is usually their first shoot. I like to capture something that they haven't seen in themselves giving them a confidence boost," he said.
"It's men supporting men. I'm pretty overwhelmed by the response and attitude of these guys whom have given up their time.
"Its a big thing to have your picture taken professionally for the first time and to be totally naked," the artist said.
- You can see a sneak preview of Manscapes 2 at the Fox Photo Den, 34 Union St, South Lismore, on Wednesday, July 6, from 5.30pm.
All are welcome to attend and meet some of the local models who posed for the new book.
