Man wanted for attempted assault


BALLINA detectives have released the image of a man wanted for an attempted sexual assault in Ballina last Friday morning.

A 40-year-old woman fought off the armed assailant who grabbed and threatened her at the Crowley Retirement Village in St Marks Close, Ballina, about 6.15am before fleeing.

The man is thought to be in his early 30s, about 188cm tall, of Caucasian appearance with a thin build and short brown hair.

He was unshaven and had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath at the time of the attack.

Police believe it was an isolated incident.
