Man trapped under steel gates knocked unconscious

A MAN is recovering in Gold Coast University Hospital after he was trapped under several steel gates he was loading onto a trailer at Stokers Siding last night.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called to Blakeneys Rd at Stokers Siding just before 9pm after reports a man was trapped under steel fencing.

The man was knocked unconscious when several of the gates he was loading fell on top of him.

"When paramedics arrived they found the man was trapped under a number of fence gates," the spokesman said.

"When the gates were removed the man reported suffering abdominal pain to paramedics."

The man was treated at the scene and stabilised while the Westpac Helicopter was en-route.

Heavy rain caused short delays in the helicopter being able to land.

The Ambulance NSW spokesman said the man was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
