Man trapped in car's windscreen

A MAN suffered serious head injuries after his car veered off the road and overturned at Drake on the weekend.

Just after midnight on Saturday, a 26-year-old male was trapped through the windscreen of his car after crashing on the Bruxner Highway at Drake.

NSW Ambulance said the man was trapped through the windscreen of his car.

Police patrolling the Tabulam area found the car, a silver Subaru, which was upside down on its roof in a gully on the westbound side of the highway.

Police officers rendered first aid until SES, Rural Fire Service and ambulance arrive to extricate the victim from the vehicle.

The man sustained serious head injuries and was transported to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition.

Lismore police duty officer Inspector Bill McKenna said driver fatigue may have been a factor.

Anyone with information about the accident can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Meanwhile, a 64-year-old man has been airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital after an accident on a rural property near Casino.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter attended the scene and reported the man was suffering serious leg and chest injuries after an accident involving a quad bike.

He is in a stable condition.
