Man to face child abuse sentencing

A NORTHERN Rivers man who has entered guilty pleas to child abuse related charges will be sentenced next March.

The 23-year-old man, whose name can't be published for legal reasons, faced Lismore Local court on Tuesday charged with using a carriage service to send indecent material to a person less than 16, two counts of possessing child abuse material and filming a person in a private act without consent to obtain sexual arousal.

The charges relate to incidents on The Northern Rivers that occurred in 2011 and 2012.

Police allege the man used social media to send indecent material to a 13-year-old girl.

It is also alleged the man filmed an 11-year-old girl getting changed in a bedroom during 2012 without her consent.

When police executed a search of the home where the man lives, they allegedly found seven videos and five images containing child abuse material.

Magistrate Jeff Linden ordered a focussed pre-sentence report to be prepared before the man is sentenced.

Mr Linden continued the man's conditional bail and ordered him to appear at Lismore Local Court next March for sentencing.
