POLICE are hunting for a gunman after a man in his 30s was shot dead outside a home in Wollongong early this morning.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Carr Parade in Unanderra about 2.15am this morning.

Police performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived but he died at the scene.

While he has yet to be identified, it is believed he is in his 30s.

Strike Force Gangele has been formed to investigate the man's death.

Officers are now canvassing the neighbourhood.
