Man shot, another hit by axe during fight

TWO men have been seriously injured after one was shot and another hit with an axe during a fight between the pair in the Adelaide Hills.

Police and paramedics rushed to a house in a Littlehampton cul-de-sac after reports of a shooting just after 5pm on Sunday.

Police say one man was shot in the torso while standing in the carport of the Rule Court house.

They said a second man was hit in the head and neck with what they believe was an axe used by the man who had been shot.

Police said both men know each other and that the incident is not believed to be random.

The pair were rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital under a convoy of police and ambulances.

The man with neck injuries from the axe is the more serious of the two.

An ambulance spokesman said they had responded to a "hysterical" 000 call after the incident.

Police have asked anyone who knows more to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
