After allegedly biting a police officer, man out on bail
AN ACCUSED Dalby police biter who has a long criminal history is free on bail.
Brisbane Supreme Court Justice Jean Dalton on Thursday approved Travis John Nelson's application for bail.
Mr Nelson was charged with serious assault, obstruction of police and assault occasioning bodily harm following an alleged drunken fight at his brother's home on September 25.
The court heard on Thursday that Mr Nelson punched and bit a police officer who was called to the Moffatt St, Kaimkillenbun address.
The alleged victim was left with a bite mark on his arm and abrasions and bruising to the head plus concussion.
Justice Dalton said Mr Nelson had a long criminal history but his last violence offence happened in 1988.
She said Mr Nelson did not represent a flight risk and it appeared he was unlikely to re-offend while on bail.
Mr Nelson will return to court on a date to be fixed. - APN NEWSDESK
