Man linked to break-in arrested

POLICE have arrested a man in relation to a violent home invasion this week.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a 62-year-old man was confronted by two men in the backyard of his Coolgardie home.

The homeowner was allegedly assaulted with a iron bar before the alleged offenders stole the man's wallet.

The homeowner sustained abrasions, cuts and bruises.

The victim called police from his neighbour's house but when police arrived, the alleged offenders had already left the scene.

On Thursday, Ballina detectives arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with aggravated break and enter and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Ballina Local Court on December 1.

Police are still wanting to speak to another man in relation to the home invasion.

He is described as being aged in his mid to late twenties, of Caucasian appearance and with red hair.
