Man killed in Yorklea crash

A MAN died when he lost control of his car and collided with a tree at Yorklea, south of Casino, this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Ellangowan Rd, nine kilometres from Casino just after 11am following reports of the incident.

When police, paramedics, Casino Volunteer Rescue Association and Ellangowan Rural Fire Service brigade arrived at the scene they found the male driver, who was the only person in the Subaru station wagon, had died.

Crime scene specialists were called along with the Ballina Crash Investigation unit.

This is the fourth fatality on Northern Rivers roads in just over a week after two men were killed last Saturday in crashes at Casino and Upper Main Arm, and a woman died in a smash on Ross Ln near Lennox Head on Thursday.

A report on the incident will be prepared for the coroner.
