Man injured in embankment crash

A MAN made an extremely lucky escape from his crumpled four-wheel drive after he rolled his car down an embankment at Clunes yesterday.

Just after 4pm, a 39-year-old driver was travelling east along Bangalow Road, about 1km east of Clunes, when his Rav 4 left the road and rolled 4m down an embankment.

The car came to rest against a tree and on top of a fence.

The owner of the property with the fence allowed emergency services to access the vehicle through his land.

The driver was trapped in the car before he was released by paramedics.

He sustained head, upper limb and back injuries.

He was transported to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
