Man hospitalised in attack

A GOONELLABAH man is in Gold Coast hospital with serious head injuries following an assault on Friday night.

Richmond Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Matt Kehoe said police believe the incident occurred after fireworks were let off at a residence on Clifford St at Goonellabah at about 9.25 pm.

Insp Kehoe said there were a number of people involved in an incident where a 47-year-old man was assaulted.

He said paramedics were called and tended to the man before he was airlifted to Gold Coast hospital.
